HISTORIC DISTRICT. A Savannah tradition, the original City Market opened in 1755 as a fish, game and produce market. Although the historic structure no longer stands, the Historical Savannah Foundation eventually constructed a new market on the same property. Today, this charming town center houses art galleries, specialty shops, restaurants, pubs, and cafes, and several trolley and carriage tours start here. On weekends, live bands frequently entertain in the courtyards.

Georgia's oldest and tallest lighthouse ­ also Fort Screven and museum to visit. Closed Tuesdays and some major holidays.

After traveling down an avenue of magnificent live oak trees, you will reach the site where Nobel Jones, one of the first settlers of Savannah, built his house in 1739. There are nature trails for walking, as well as guided tours. There is also a museum and special programs presented throughout the year.#13;#10;#13;#10;
